Professor HAN Sen, director of Road and Airport Pavement Research Center, Jointed the faculty at the Chang’an University (School of Highway) in 1982.

He was a teacher expert implementing the Education Aid Project of the Ministry of China Education to Dar Es Salaam Technical College of Tanzania from 1991~1995 and a visiting scholar in the Ghent University and the Road Division of Flemish Administry in Belgium from 1997~1998.

He is mainly devoted to teaching, scientific research and technical consultation in the fields of pavement engineering and road building materials. He has carried out more than 30 research projects from National, Provincial and the Ministry of Transport and over 30 technical consulting projects of highway pavements among which most were for expressway construction and others were for first-grade highway construction.

He has contributed many breakthroughs in research on the evaluation index, the methods and the technical measures for the skid-resistance and noise reduction of pavements.

His many research projects won prizes from China Highway Society and Province Government. He is named in 20 National Invention Patents of test methods and test devices for pavement materials.

He has published more than 100 papers at core journals in china and abroad and a large number of technical reports to various public organizations.

He and his team provided a comprehensive technical consulting on pavement technology and hence promoted the quality and technical level of pavement for many highway construction projects, especially led to the high level development of pavement technology of the expressways in Shaanxi Province.
